I mess around with old computer architectures as a hobby. This website is a place to capture and index my activities.
I hope it helps you find things to build upon, or enjoy for yourself.
All of what I produce is and will be as open source and freely licensed as I can make it. In the past I have assembled and sold some of these, but I no longer do that. I do not find that an interesting use of my hobby time.
The TI-99/4A was my first home computer. But I am always curious about other 1980s and 1990s home computers. Back in the day, I used to belong to the Kitsap 99’ers computer user group. We didn’t have the internet, and had to learn things by meeting in person.
My early home computer timeline:
- 1983-1991: TI-99/4A
- 1989-forever: PC
- 1991-1992: Amiga 1000
I picked up a used Amiga 1000 after I already had a VGA capable PC. In some ways I was retro-computing already. Those old machines have all been lost as a result of moves and my short-sited imagination. Lots of regrets there.
Today, I have a room full of things fighting over screen and desk space. Most of the computer systems beyond the TI-99/4A, I own so that I can take inspiration from them when developing for the 4A.
